Fatherless, Embracing Your Role as a Daughter of God

It was a challenge embracing my role as a daughter of God because I grew up in a fatherless home. Tiphany Montgomery said something like, I had to learn my role as a daughter of God before being able to embrace the other roles that God was calling me to be. When she said that, it blew my mind. It had me thinking about that role and reflecting on how I have been approaching God.

In this video, I share my struggles, revelations, and more. Scroll down for a free reflection sheet!

5 Tips To Embrace Your Role as a Daughter of God

  1. Know Your Identity in Christ: Understand that as a daughter of God, your identity is rooted in Him, and you are deeply loved and valued.Verses:
    • 1 John 3:1 – “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”
    • Romans 8:16 – “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.”
  2. Seek God’s Will: Make it a priority to seek God’s will and purpose for your life, trusting that He has a plan for you as His daughter.Verses:
    • Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
    • Jeremiah 29:11 – “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”
  3. Live in Righteousness: Strive to live a life that reflects the character of God, walking in righteousness and obedience to His Word.Verses:
    • Micah 6:8 – “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
    • Matthew 5:16 – “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
  4. Cultivate a Relationship with God: Foster a deep and personal relationship with God through prayer, worship, and studying His Word.Verses:
    • James 4:8 – “Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”
    • Psalm 119:105 – “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
  5. Walk in Faith and Confidence: Trust in God’s promises and walk in faith and confidence, knowing that He is with you every step of the way.Verses:
    • Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
    • Isaiah 41:10 – “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
