Dating Myself: Acting Like a Tourist

Hey Sweet Thang,

It is Sunday afternoon and it is so hot in the Twin Cities! I am NOT complaining though.

Dating Myself

I have been singing, “I’m dating myself, dating myself, dating my..” in the tune of Feeling Myself with Nicki Minaj and Beyonce…  I have been feeling myself lately, falling in love and just getting to know myself in a deeper way. It helps when you live by yourself and you do not have a car anymore. It has been so quiet in my home and just hearing my thoughts loud and clear has been healing to my heart, mind and soul.

There are times when I want to be around people and then there are times where I enjoy my alone time, whether it is at home or out and about. I blame my only child lifestyle!

This weekend is when I wanted some alone time. I decided to take myself out on a date. One thing I learned in my marriage is that you cannot depend on anybody but yourself for your happiness. About five months before my divorce I began to do things that made me happy. One of those things was vlogging! I like to talk and I thought, “hey this is a great way to talk and still be a bit social and anti social at the same time.”  Another thing was to go to the movies. I talked my boss into letting me work long hours Monday-Thursday so I could have a half day on Friday. So on Fridays, I would go to the movies alone and it was the best time ever.

I am on this journey to self-happiness and learning a lot! I am also becoming more confident and less stressed. Well this weekend I enjoyed Minneapolis/St. Paul but that is where I live… One day there will be more traveling.

My number one rule to dating yourself in your own city is to ACT LIKE A TOURIST! I went around the Twin Cities like it was my first time. I was born and raised here in the Twin Cities. I felt that looking and acting like a tourist makes things so much more easier to get around!

This is what I did:
Movie: Minions Movie- I fell asleep on that bad boy. Lesson I learned from the movie is that you have to step out of your comfort zone in order to achieve great outcomes. Kevin, decided to find their new evil one, he was nervous but he did it anyways. Beat many evil villains, was praised for great work and found their new evil leader! You have to step out on faith 😉

Place: Glam Doll Donuts- What a cute retro little donut and coffee shop. I was excited about the decor and the nostalgia. I do not eat donuts unfortunately but I would go back for coffee and reading. A great place to date yourself or someone. Click here to visit!

Minneapolis Farmers Market- OMGeeshhh I enjoyed myself. It was very hot but I walked around bought some amazing honey peanut butter, fries, green tomatoes and some cheese. Check out my video–>  Dating Myself Ep. 1

Food: Key’s Cafe-MPLS- so I went to this restaurant at 4 p.m. because I was craving their gluten free pancakes!! They were amazing. Fluffy and flavorful. Every time a gluten free item tastes too good to be true I always have to ask again is it gluten free for clarification.

People: Myself of course, I bought a selfie stick! 🙂 I am too excited about it and ready to film and take pics.

Well stay tuned for more adventures as I date myself! I will have tips and success stories! Thank you for reading!

Peace and Blessings

Cicely Renee
