Confessions of a Black Blogger

Confessions of a Black Blogger

Last Thursday, at 8 pm began a movement. A social movement, an ever evolving movement where black bloggers from all over the world came to Twitter to discuss, frustrations, ideas, and successes of being a black blogger. It was the start of something great!

  • There were frustrations on the physical part, where when working with companies and seeking sponsors, they have to look a certain way and their hair had to be a certain way.
  • There were frustrations on being the only black person at a blogging seminar or facebook group. That feeling of aloneness and being that token black person.
  • More frustrations on how friends and family do not support their blogs and discounting the value of what they are doing.
  • Frustrations on the industry being saturated with white bloggers and how they seem to be very successful in what they are doing.
  • More comments on how many are socially awkward or are introverts wanting to meet new people and how it holds them back.
  • Ideas of black blogger awards came into play as well as black seminars and meet ups.
  • Many feel alone, like there are black bloggers but none near them.
  • We want to be successful, we want people that look like us to read our posts, share our posts and like our posts. We want not only for black people to do this but people of all backgrounds.
  • We want you to know this is our business, our brand and life- it is not just a hobby.
  • Thursday night was the start of a movement, the Black Bloggers United Movement where we will share: beauty, fashion, lifestyle, encouragement and so much more. We want you, the world to be excited about what we do, we want you to be encouraged by what we write and share.
  • We need you, people from around the world to share this, embrace it and be encouraged.

Here are a list of people that will be constantly updated to the list of Black Bloggers.

Note that the list is not in any particular order and that I encourage you to check out each one and find the ones you love the most.

Reaping What We Sow: Haggai Calls to Prioritize God’s Kingdom

Studying Haggai made me reflect on making sure I prioritize God’s Kingdom instead of what I can do with my own power and knowledge. In the scriptures, Haggai prioritized their luxury homes while the Lord’s temple lay in ruins. This is 18 years after returning to the Holy Land out of exile. These people were…
