Bougie Reviews Whiskies of the World Recap

Whiskies of the World Recap

Over the weekend I was able to attend a dope event that was super boozie, I mean bougie!

I know you all know I am a diehard wine drinker but I adulted a bit more and enjoyed

some whiskey! I never just drink whiskey nor just hear about people drinking whiskey but after this weekend, I have become a whiskey fan!

I will definitely add whiskey to my lifestyle after being able to talk to people who knew so much about it and getting the chance to taste so many different kinds.

Currently, I am unable to give you pointers or knowledge about whiskey, but I will let you know my top five whiskey brands from the event! I, unfortunately, was not able to try all of the whiskeys due to making sure I was not intoxicated as I drove home!

About Whiskies of the World®

Originating in San Francisco, Whiskies of the World is now a series of five hugely popular whisky festivals taking place in California, Texas and Georgia. Whiskies of the World offers guests the opportunity to taste superlative whiskies and to meet the outstanding personalities of the whisky world. Featuring whiskies from Scotland, Ireland, the USA, Canada, Japan and Australia, Whiskies of the World will surprise even the most savvy connoisseur. (from their website)

Whiskies of the World is all about immersing your senses in aromas and flavors and learning how these work with foods. There will be over 250 different whiskies to explore, a food buffet to pair with, and seminars to deepen your knowledge.   The evening provides enrichment for all levels of whisky consumers.  From the whisky curious who needs to know how to unlock the intense yet subtle flavors without suffering a burn, to the whisky expert who is interested in the latest innovations of the distillers and blenders.  For the whiskyenthusiast it is about discovering new brands or releases they haven’t tried before, discovering new ways to taste products that can affect how the flavors are delivered to your olfactory and taste buds, and celebrating of all things whisky.

The Foodie Whisky Festival will be featuring four local chefs/restaurants to show guests how whisky with food can elevate the gastronomical experience.

  • Stephanie Hall of Tillmans Bishop Arts will present a Crispy Pork Belly Dr. Pepper BBQ,  with Sweet Potato Puree to be paired with a Sherry finished malt whisky.
  • Calvin Sharp of HQ Dallas presents Jalapeno Hushpuppies and an Artisan Cheese Display paired with Iron Root Corn Whiskey.
  • The kitchen talent of Nickle and Rye presents Peanut Butter Sliders with Bacon Marmalade paired with Laphroaig and Cajun Smoked Chicken Wings with Basil Haden Dark Rye.
  • Josh Harmon, Eater Dallas 2017 Chef of the year, master of suspense, wants to build your anticipation until you can visit his table to be amazed.

My Experience of Whiskies of the World

There were so many brands of whiskeys, wines and even food! They also had classes you could add on to the ticket to learn more about whiskey, which I thought was pretty amazing! You were able to choose to learn all about Amrut Indian Whisky with Ashok Chokalingam, pair some fine cheese with Macallan with Elyse Blechman or learn about Bruichladdich’s wide range of unpeated and peated Scotches with Erica Beindorff! For the bourbon lovers you could travel to Breckinridge Colorado for 45 minutes to learn all about the wonderful destination distillery Breckinridge Bourbon has there, or maybe you would like to travel back in time to learn about Lost Scottish distilleries with Ewan Henderson! Cigar lovers, we have a superb cigar rolling class for you! More details are included on the order page through the link below.

Whiskies of the World Dallas was held at the amazing and beautiful Frontiers of Flight Museum near the Dallas Lovefield Airport! To be surrounded by some gorgeous fighter jets and Tomahawk Missiles while drinking whiskey was exhilarating.
