Yall, TEXAS is huge, the roads are all over the place, and there is SOOOO MUCH TRAFFIC which makes my daily commute stressful! I cannot stand being on the road as I stop and go on my way to and from work.
Although, I am 18 miles from work, it can take 40+ minutes and it is not a fun time.
Prior to my new commute change, I would set my GPS to find the easiest and less busiest route, call my mama, and then listen to NPR.
I desired to ride a city bus because it allows for productivity through the traffic, but unfortunately, the access from where I live to where I work is challenging and not worth it. So, driving is my only resource!
A couple of weeks ago, my work bestie told me about a new book to read, and I was so excited! I told my other work bestie and she started to play a snippet and I was stunned not knowing what that was. I asked in amazement, “What is that?” and she replied, “Audible!”Â
They went on to tell me that they are books that are read out loud! I was like that is so dope! I thought about all the books I could “read” on my commute in the mornings and afternoons. I thought about all the books I wanted to read but just didn’t have the time! I thought about roadtrips, my morning routine and other activities I could be doing while being read a story! Took me back to childhood, and how I loved to be read stories.
I love to read too, don’t get me wrong, but as busy adult doing the most, I need to take as many shortcuts as possible to fill my life with the things I love.
During the commute for my mornings and afternoons, I can listen to amazing books, such as Becoming by Michelle Obama where she narrates her story and I fall more in love with her amazingness and her family!
Or Dear Martin, which I finished quickly over the weekend, it was hard to hear, but enjoyed it even though it is a Young Adult (YA) book!
