When you have a platform that reaches the masses, you should ideally use it to uplift the community and not tear it down. Dallas Southern Pride does just that, uplifts the community and so much more.
This weekend, Dallas Southern Pride and Abounding Prosperity INC made a huge impact in Dallas by hosting a 2-day fundraiser. It began with the amazingly talented legend, Patti LaBelle hosting the Gala that featured carving stations, a silent auction, and more. Later that night was the Naughty or Nice Christmas Party featuring Kash Doll.
They chose this particular weekend because of the season and how it promotes love and giving.
“We help people year-round, but the holidays are a great time to show appreciation for those
who support our cause and the community, as well as encourage continued advocacy and
assistance because our job is not done yet,” said Kirk Myers-Hill, president of Dallas Southern
Pride. “Contributing to Dallas Southern Pride and Abounding Prosperity allows us to continue
to provide services to the community where no one gets turned away.”
To end the weekend, they celebrated it with a Gospel Brunch featuring Le’Andria Johnson, Kelly Price, and Yolanda Adams. It was hosted at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas, a gorgeous space. The atmosphere was amazing, black people, young and old came and went to church. Le’Andria said, “I know we are not at church but we know Jesus” Le’Andria tore the place down. Sis started on the stage but was like naw, this is not a performance this is church. She got down and walked the room singing. The people left church and went to church.
Kelly Price came out next, she shared her testimony of having only one long that had 10% capacity due to Covid and she thought she would never be able to sing again, but the lie detector test determined God can heal! Kelly Price sang R n B and brought up guests from the audience to help her sing, and this one man, whew, I hope they exchanged information.
It was an exciting experience and I am glad to have been able to participate.
Dallas Southern Pride and Abounding Prosperity Inc. hosted the holiday gala and gospel brunch to aid in their mission to provide services addressing health, social and economic disparities among Black Americans, particularly gay and bisexual men, cisgender women, transgender people, and their families.
