Chloe x Halle + New Single + Girl Scouts = Role Models

Chloe x HalleChloe x Halle Signed To Beyonce’s New Label Released Their First Single Video “Drop”

Chloe and Halle just literally DROPPED their first single “Drop” on Beyonce’s new label. This song sends an eery and tantalizing feeling up and down your spine. The beat is amazing and of course their vocals will put you in a trance; so gifted.

The first time I heard of these girls was when I was a Full-time Girl Scout Troop Leader for the inner city girls that would not normally participate. The girl scouts who sold the most cookies, won a chance to see Chloe x Halle live in concert. My boss sent an email saying that there were extra tickets and to choose a few girls from our groups to go. So I did that.

I brought 5 fifth graders to their very FIRST concert to see Chloe x Halle. I had no idea who they were but I was down. To be honest, I was like hmmm…. I am in Minnesota, 90% of the girls in Girl Scouts were white and of course I was like we are going to see young white girls perform. It was their name, yes, I judged a book by its cover. But to my surprise, these brilliant and talented young ladies were black and I was thrilled. Funny thing is, I do not think my girls saw color at this event, all they saw were two young ladies, close to their age, living out their dreams.

My main purpose in life, is to live a life where I can be a positive influence whether that be through my day to day interactions or actions or promoting and sharing positivity. I am very thankful that there are others doing that as well.

Chloe x Halle are great role models and their presence needs to spread worldwide just like Nicki Minaj or Drake or Beyonce.

I remember asking some of my most inner city/urban girls who their role models were and most of their answers were Nicki Minaj and I was like why? They really had no answer for that. It just ruffles my feathers that these young girls view of the world is so limited.

I remember one of my favorite girls at the concert looked up to me with huge eyes and a huge smile saying, “This is the best day of my life!” I felt so great- I was not the role model for her but I was able to give her that experience and expose her to a whole new world. That is all we have to do, expose our youth to amazing wonders of the world. Let them see people that look like them doing small and huge things. I mean there is so much other exposure to fighting videos, over sexualized media, shooting and more, why not give them a new to them perspective of what greatness can be.

Here is their new song and I love it!

Peace and Blessings,
CicelyRenee
