Did you know that hair brands such as JAM, Dark and Lovely, and a few other brands were bought mostly by the black community but these products are owned by Loreal- a white owned brand? A lot of black buyers but no black suppliers.

Did you know that in the black community the black dollar only stays in the community 6 hours compared the Asian dollar that stays in the community 28 days before it is spent on outsiders.

Black owned businesses are not getting the support it is needed to stay and excel.

Maggie Anderson bought black for a year and discussed it on Ted Talks.

My vision for this website is to showcase and support black owned, bloggers, artists, restaurants and more. I really hope that I can be a source to showing you these black owned entities so that you can support them as well.

Maggie told a story about a sweet girl named Jordan, who wanted to build a children’s clothing store. They offered tea parties and book clubs as well as modeling classes. It no longer exists unfortunately.

I wish we were more aware of businesses in the black community as it is easily known about Starbucks, Target etc. How can we get to the point where we know black owned businesses to be able to tell people who are seeking services?

I recently came across a new website called The Official Black Wallstreet. It is a directory of black owned businesses. Here, you can submit black owned businesses where you can look to support.

I have been visiting Atlanta, GA lately and found a chain restaurant called This Is It, amazing food. I want to know more and visit more, these black owned places.

“You don’t have to live in a struggling community to empower it, we are all connected to this economy.” Maggie Anderson

Do you agree with what Maggie is saying? Somehow we need to get on one accord, I am tired of seeing black businesses abandoned because the dollars are not being spent in the black community. Can we come together before a tragedy occurs? Can we create a “BlackDollarMovement”

Instead of going to Sam’s Club or a grocery store to buy a cake, can we go to a black owned bakery?

Instead of eating at Red Lobster or some other large chain restaurant, can we find a black owned one?

My little cousin just started a graphic design business, can we support by buying our logos, our websites or whatever from black owned artists?

Can we circulate the positive news as quickly as we spread negative mess that tarnishes who we are as a black community?

What are some resources that you have on black owned businesses? What are some of your thoughts on this subject. Could you make an honest effort to supporting more black owned entities this year?

I learned about this article from this post on Centric Tv.

Also, be sure to support black bloggers, I made a post on Confessions of a Black Blogger and there are tons of black blogs to follow.

Please share this so that I can get more resources to provide for the readers! Thank you.

Let’s start a dialogue,
