Birthday Shenanigans: Celebrating All Month Long
It is September, one of my favorite months of the year. WHY? Well of course I was born in this lovely month but also because it is so beautiful. The leaves are changing, the weather is changing, school is now in session and people are excited to start new goals now that summer is almost at an end.
September brings so much joy to me, although my birthday caused many issues which led me to start celebrating all month long. Yes, I said it, I celebrate my birthday all month long. Call me bougie if you want to, thanks for the compliment but why not celebrate the gift of life and completion of another year of life. I thank God for blessing me with another day at life but completing a cycle and stepping up another level.
My birthday is September 10th and this date was a big struggle for me as a child and as an adult trying to celebrate. Let’s talk about it:
- My birthday is “late” I was supposed to be 5 Sept. 1 to start school but they made me wait a whole year before starting so I was 6 years old in kindergarten. Talk about awkward- I was so much taller than everybody, I was older than everybody and this altered my future by causing a ripple effect. I am ok though… I would not know many people if I had not started school when I did.
- My birthday starts right in the beginning of the “school” year, this gave me no time to meet new people to ask them to celebrate with me. So when I did have parties, they were very intimate with mostly family and friends from church
- It always seemed that life started in September- a lot of my jobs used this time for training so it was MANDATORY that I attended training on my birthday. Or for example last year, the big 30, I had to work because we had our huge fundraising breakfast that all staff had to attend.
There were many other things that caused me not to be able to celebrate my birthday on the day, but then an idea popped in my head, to celebrate all month long. It could be a part of my only child syndrome where I WANT ALL THE ATTENTION… but what ever it is- I AM GOING TO CELEBRATE.
Life has changed drastically for me this year, dealing with my divorce, surgery, and a car accident that has me more than excited to celebrate life, MY LIFE. Realizing that nobody is going to treat me as good as myself, so I need to show me some love, well a lot of love. WHY NOT!!!
I believe that people are not celebrated enough. This could be so simple as helping somebody out and I am not saying you should expect things from people when you do things, but celebrating people and who they are, what they bring to the table and how they make you feel. Many people do not know how to celebrate others and that is ok, that is why I say, celebrate the WHOLE month of your birthday.
Because life has changed so much for me, I have new goals and my passions for things have increased where I want to focus on what make me happy. One of the things that makes me seriously happy is this blog. Although I am still trying to figure out my niche, which I know what it is but it is the how that is holding me back, I absolutely love writing and sharing the posts with people. I feel that in some way it is enlightening, enriching and excites the minds of the readers. I want others to share my joy. So this month as a gift to myself I am going to host an online launch party for my blog. I will be creating a facebook event or group where people will be invited to and participate in the giveaways and other things. I will be celebrating others as an opportunity to give to others. I will be doing many posts on the blog filled with great ideas and things that are happening. I want you to join in with me.
I will be posting not only here but on Periscope: CicelyRenee Instagram: SweetCicelys SnapChat: CicelyRenew and Facebook: Cicely-Renee so come along with me on this journey! Please invite friends and family to come along! I am hoping this will be the best birth month yet!!!
